Installing a Pool: The Process and What to Expect

Adding a pool to your backyard is one of the best ways to enhance your outdoor living space, increase property value, and create a personal oasis for relaxation and entertainment. At J Squared Outdoor, we specialize in installing fiberglass pools that seamlessly integrate with your hardscaping to deliver both beauty and functionality. Here’s a step-by-step look at the pool installation process and what you can expect.

Step 1: Planning and Design

Before breaking ground, we work closely with you to design a poolscape that fits your needs, style, and budget. During this phase, we consider factors such as:

  • Pool size and shape to complement your yard
  • Material options (we exclusively install fiberglass pools)
  • Additional features like waterfalls, lighting, and surrounding patios
  • Zoning and permits to ensure compliance with local Ohio regulations
Step 2: Site Preparation and Excavation

Once the design is finalized and permits are approved, we prepare the site by clearing the area and marking the pool layout. Excavation begins using heavy machinery to dig out the designated space. This phase usually takes a few days, depending on soil conditions and accessibility.

Step 3: Fiberglass Pool Installation

Since we exclusively install fiberglass pools, the pre-manufactured pool shell is delivered and carefully lowered into the excavated area. This process is quicker than other pool types, ensuring a faster installation and less disruption to your yard.

Step 4: Plumbing and Electrical Work

After the pool shell is in place, we install the necessary plumbing and electrical systems. This includes:

  • Filtration and circulation systems
  • Pool heaters (if applicable)
  • Lighting features
  • Automated controls for convenience
Step 5: Hardscaping and Landscaping Integration

One of the key benefits of working with J Squared Outdoor is our expertise in hardscaping. We ensure your pool area blends seamlessly with:

  • Custom patios and decks for lounging and entertaining
  • Retaining walls to support the landscape
  • Outdoor kitchens and fire features for a complete backyard experience
Step 6: Filling and Finishing Touches

Once the construction is complete and systems are in place, we fill the pool with water and balance the chemicals to make it swim-ready. Additional finishing touches may include:

  • Poolside furniture placement
  • Final landscaping touches
  • Walkthrough and maintenance instructions
Step 7: Enjoy Your New Pool!

With everything complete, your backyard is now transformed into a luxurious retreat. Whether you’re hosting gatherings or enjoying a quiet evening by the water, your new fiberglass pool will provide years of enjoyment and relaxation.
